With 200 days to go until the start of the 23rd edition of MICFootball, the first teams of the tournament are starting to be confirmed. With origins in the Premier League, the Reds and Red Devils are two usual teams in the tournament and, despite not taking home the title, they always delight all the fans of the Costa Brava with football in the purest English style: box-to-box games, spectacular moments and amazing goals.
On the one hand, Liverpool FC has in its squad some players with a past in the MIC, such as youth players Curtis Jones (2013) and Jarrell Quansah (2018). In addition to the young British players, Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson (2008) and Egyptian Mohamed Salah (2010) also played in the tournament with their respective national teams. We are looking forward to discovering more talented players next April at MICFootball.
On the other hand, five players from United’s current squad played one day in the Mediterranean International Cup. Diogo Dalot (2013) and Andre Onana (2011) played for FC Porto and FC Barcelona respectively. Casemiro (2008), on the other hand, shone with the Brazilian national team in an edition to remember alongside Neymar Jr and Coutinho. The players who emerged from the youth academy and took part in the MIC in Devils’ clothing were Rashford (2010) and the young center-back Kobbie Mainoo (2016 and 2019). In addition to these first-team players, Cristiano and Kai, sons of club legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney, also played in the tournament in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
In this edition we will discover the new talents of the future, and we will be able to say someday that dreams are real.
