With less than 100 days until the start of MICFootball’s 23rd edition, which will be held on the Costa Brava in April 2025 (15th to 20th), the list of participating teams is getting fuller every day. The tournament organization can announce that five categories out of nine are already complete.

On the one hand, the U12A category will have 28 teams, where players born in 2013 will compete in the 11-a-side football format. On the other hand, 52 teams will compete in the U15 category and 76 in the U16, the largest of this edition. Finally, players born in 2006 and 2007 will compete in the U18 and U19 categories, completed with 56 and 44 teams respectively.

However, the registration period for MICFootball 2025 is still open in the other four categories and, therefore, teams can register to experience this Easter the tournament where the future stars are born. Among this year’s confirmed teams, there are some of the best youth academies on the world stage with clubs such as Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, FC Bayern, Ajax FC, Arsenal FC, Liverpool FC or Manchester United, among many others.

With just over three months left until the kick-off, team confirmations continue on the MICFootball social networks in an edition that is on track to break record participation numbers.

Will you miss it? You can find more information on our social networks and on the website micfootball.com.

Registrations to become a MICFootball 2025 volunteer are now officially open. From April 14th-20th, 2025, volunteers will once again be an essential part of the tournament, carrying out different tasks on the pitch and in the hotel. Their role is essential for the proper development of the championship, coordinating buses, meal times and match management through the official app.

In addition, the tournament has a group of physios volunteers who are always on the lookout for any incident on each of the playing fields. Finally, the communication team is nourished by volunteers who capture stories so they can then be broadcast on the official MICFootball channels.

Are you passionate about football and want to live a unique experience? MICFootball is waiting for you.

Rodri, Aitana Bonmatí and Lamine Yamal were the stars of the night on Monday in France, being awarded the best players in the world and the best young player respectively. In what was undoubtedly a great celebration for Spanish football, the MIC family also celebrated the success of the three players at the Ballon d’Or gala.

Rodri, a Spaniard at the top

What Xavi or Iniesta could not achieve in 2010, Rodri achieved with a historic Ballon d’Or, the first for a Spanish player since Luis Suárez won it in 1960. The Manchester City midfielder beat Vinicius and Bellingham in the voting. Rodri became the second MICPlayer to receive the Ballon d’Or after Leo Messi.

Aitana, the queen of women’s football

For the second consecutive year, Aitana Bonmatí received the Ballon d’Or that accredits her as the best player in the world. The Barça player, who sponsored the MICFootball 2022 edition, won all possible titles with Barça.

Lamine Yamal, a precociousness without limits

The Barça striker, at 17 years old, is already an icon of world football, breaking all records of precocity at club and national team level. After winning the European Championship this summer, Lamine Yamal was crowned with the Kopa Trophy, succeeding Jude Bellingham on the throne. The Barça player has already left his mark on MICFootball on two occasions, in 2019 and 2022, being champion of the tournament and forming part of the ideal eleven.

With 200 days to go until the start of the 23rd edition of MICFootball, the first teams of the tournament are starting to be confirmed. With origins in the Premier League, the Reds and Red Devils are two usual teams in the tournament and, despite not taking home the title, they always delight all the fans of the Costa Brava with football in the purest English style: box-to-box games, spectacular moments and amazing goals.
On the one hand, Liverpool FC has in its squad some players with a past in the MIC, such as youth players Curtis Jones (2013) and Jarrell Quansah (2018). In addition to the young British players, Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson (2008) and Egyptian Mohamed Salah (2010) also played in the tournament with their respective national teams. We are looking forward to discovering more talented players next April at MICFootball.
On the other hand, five players from United’s current squad played one day in the Mediterranean International Cup. Diogo Dalot (2013) and Andre Onana (2011) played for FC Porto and FC Barcelona respectively. Casemiro (2008), on the other hand, shone with the Brazilian national team in an edition to remember alongside Neymar Jr and Coutinho. The players who emerged from the youth academy and took part in the MIC in Devils’ clothing were Rashford (2010) and the young center-back Kobbie Mainoo (2016 and 2019). In addition to these first-team players, Cristiano and Kai, sons of club legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney, also played in the tournament in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
In this edition we will discover the new talents of the future, and we will be able to say someday that dreams are real.

MICFootball and Wakatake Group have strengthen their collaboration with the aim of continuing the international expansion of the tournament in the Asian market, shaping the growth of Japanese football at the Spain.

MICSports’ event director Maite Colomer and the General Director of Wakatake Group Joel Santos have corroborated the deal between both parties. In this way, MICFootball and Wakatake Group will continue working together so that teams from Japan can live the experience of living an unforgettable week at the Costa Brava.

FC Andorra has become the champion of the U18 category after beating Olympique de Marseille by the minimum (1-2) with a comeback included in a vibrant final that had excitement until the end.

He started scoring for the French team and did so before the quarter-hour mark with a goal from Antoine Valero. The attacker faced the goalkeeper and beat him with a strong shot. The tricolor team has not given up, gaining meters as the minutes progressed and tied shortly after. A low cross in the heart of the small area was connected by Rodrigo Pociello, who sent the ball into the net. With the score tied at half-time, the tie was broken just at the start of the second half when Naoufal El Haimir scored the second with a powerful shot that the goalkeeper could not clear. Even Andorra could have scored the third, already in the final stretch and with the game wide open, when they sent a shot against the crossbar.

Without a goal conceded, FC Andorra surpassed the group stage with full victories before leaving rivals such as Aquahotel FC, OVT Academy, Shakhtar Donetk and Real Sociedad by the wayside in the qualifying rounds. They have become the champion of the youth category (U18) and are the third top scorer (20 goals), only surpassed by Athletic Club (23) and Real Sociedad (22).

Ebrima Tunkara, with a header at the end of time, gave victory to the FC Barcelona cadets in the final of the U16 category that pitted the Blaugrana team against Girona FC in Palamós.

He was in the last action of the match, in a service from the corner that ended with the goal of the African footballer after 50 minutes dominated by Barça, who did not manage to materialize with clear opportunities their control of the ball against a a well-positioned opponent, who was able to resist and who starred in some attacks, without much success in the last meters. It was Barça who took the initiative and looked for the goal with insistence. Proof of this are some arrivals in the first half, such as a long shot that grazed the left post or a lateral foul that caught the white-and-red goalkeeper, very surely.

History repeated itself after the break, but neither team managed to open the scoring until the last action. Corner served from the right of the attack, with the ball hanging on the far post and Tunkara taking advantage, with a header, of his teammate’s assistance to decide the final.

Champion of the U16 category is FC Barcelona, who have won all the matches and have not conceded a single goal. After comfortably passing the group stage, it has eliminated PSG Academy Miami, BCN Sports Academy, FC Porto and RCD Espanyol.

The final of the U14 category has been decided in an exciting penalty shootout in favor of RCD Espanyol, after the match against FC Andorra ended with a tie on the scoreboard (1-1) once time had ended. regulatory.

An even and very lively duel until the last minute, when the tricolor team was able to balance their rival’s initial goal. Sergi Font was in charge of opening the scoring in the early stages of the first half, when he was left alone in front of the goalkeeper and beat him with a strong shot placed at his right post. The tie was narrowly missed just two minutes later with a subtle touch from Iker Duran, who was smarter than anyone and took advantage of his defender’s confusion to finish. The ball went out by very little. Before the break the second could have fallen for Espanyol with a shot from Unai Balmon that missed the target by centimeters.

The second act was also very balanced and although Espanyol had victory within reach, in the last breath Adrián Serrano equalized when he finished a quick attack by sending the ball far from the goalkeeper’s reach. Maximum excitement in the penalties until the decisive goal from Eloi Pedragosa, which decided the final for his team.

In this way, RCD Espanyol closes a MIC in which they have not lost a game and have only conceded one draw, in today’s final. First in their group, they have left the following rivals behind in the qualifying rounds: Vic Riuprimer Refo FC, CE Mercantil, the Mexican national team and FC Barcelona.

With a solitary goal from Guillermo Trujillano, the Atlético de Madrid cadet had enough to claim victory in the final of the U15 category that was played at the Vilatenim stadium in Figueres.

The Madrid team, coached by Borja Resurrección, brother of first team player Koke, narrowly defeated Villarreal CF and did so thanks to a goal that came in the 18th minute of the match. The final was quite balanced and although there were some dangerous chances in each goal, the scoreboard did not move any further.

Atlético de Madrid closes its participation in the MICFootball without having conceded a goal after 7 games and having scored 17. First in its group, it has left Kaptiva Sports Academy, Surf Puerto Rico and Shakhtar Donetsk behind in the qualifiers.
