MICINTEGRA SCHEDULE

Reaching 10 editions would not be possible without the help of the volunteers who make it possible and the support of Fundació La Caixa, which shares with us all the values on which this tournament is based.

The MICFootball, a tournament recognized by the Catalan Football Federation, has decided to adhere to the following protocols established by the federative body:

In this way, the tournament aims to take another step in its commitment to continuous improvement to always meet the highest standards in terms of integrity, ethics, professionalism, compliance, and social responsibility.

The president of MICFootball, Juanjo Rovira Berengué, will be the person responsible for receiving and addressing any incident regarding the two protocols. Any eventuality must be communicated immediately to the email info@micsports.es

The 22nd edition of MICFootball is just around the corner. From March 26th to 31st, 412 teams will live a unique experience on the Costa Brava. A total of 1,012 matches will be played over five days on 56 different fields in the Girona regions.

And how can the matches be watched on television?

MICFootball 2024 will have, as usual, extensive television coverage. The tournament has reached agreements with national networks such as Gol Play, TV3 and Movistar so that matches can be watched from home. And of course, the MICFootball YouTube channel will be active during the week.

The great news of this edition is that all the matches of the final phase, starting with the quarterfinals, will be watched on our YouTube channel. All matches from all categories. From the quarterfinals to the grand finals. A step forward that the tournament takes to give greater coverage and notoriety to the competition.

The 22nd edition of MICFootball was presented today in the Hall of Sessions of the Diputació de Girona and it did so with the presence of Aleix García, footballer of the first team of Girona FC and one of the ambassadors of the tournament.

Miquel Noguer defined as “a good symptom” the record numbers presented by this 2024 edition. “This means that there are more people who want to come to the MIC and more municipalities and clubs who want to get involved. The tournament it will have 8,000 players and this translates into a significant sporting and above all economic impact. MICFootball is an excellent ambassador for the Girona and Costa Brava brand so that it is projected and known around the world thanks to its media power.” The Diputació de Girona has been with the championship since day one and, for now, has guaranteed its support until the 2026 edition.

Aleix Garcia, godfather of this edition, reviewed the current situation of his team and recalled his participation in the MIC in 2014, which he played wearing the Villarreal shirt. “Despite losing the final I experienced in Palamós, the tournament allowed me to live a very beautiful experience. It is a week that allows you to enjoy thanks to a spectacular organization. It is an honor to be part of it and to be a sponsor and I I remember the nerves I experienced in the days leading up to the week of the tournament.” After recalling his footballing beginnings and underlining the support of his parents, he also assessed the match that Girona will play on Saturday at the Getafe field and the options of playing in European competition next season: “We are very close, but we are aware that every day is very complicated. We face the next game with the greatest enthusiasm, even though we know it will be a tough game because their style of play does not help us much.”

The event also had the participation of the deputy delegate of the Spanish Government in Girona, Pere Parramon; the president of Agrupació Esportiva MICFootball, David Bellver; the president of MICFootball, Juanjo Rovira; the head of the Territorial Representation of Sport in Girona, Anna Julià; and the director of institutional banking at CaixaBank in Girona, Ferran Llach. Mayors and councilors of the municipalities that will host the championship, sponsors and collaborators also attended an event that served to publicize all the details of this edition.

MICFootball will start the 22nd edition next Wednesday, March 27th with an opening ceremony that will take place in Figueres.

The Opening Ceremony will start at 10:00am (CET) and can be followed on Televisió de Catalunya and on our official YouTube channel. In the U16 category, UE Figueres will receive Liverpool FC in their own stadium.

At the end of this first match will begin the traditional flags parade, with 39 countries represented and 412 teams, more than ever in the tournament. Immediately afterwards, the group of dancers Dance Me will give their welcome with a performance that promises to be spectacular.

At 11:45am will start U14 category game FC Barcelona – CP Sarrià which will close the Opening Ceremony of MICFootball 2024. At halftime we will unveil the winner of the 12th edition of the Dani Montesinos Award, a sports journalism contest that commemorates the figure of the journalist who died in 2012 due to a traffic accident. In addition to the recognition, the reward is an internship at GOL Play TV channel.

At the end of the second match, the teams will return to the hotels to have lunch, rest, and prepare for their respective first matches, which will be played on the afternoon of March 27.

Access to the stadium

All teams participating in MICFootball 2024, whether or not they are staying with the organization (including their companions), have their access guaranteed to the Stadium as long as they have confirmed their willingness to attend the event. The rest of the public will have to wait for capacity availability to be able to access it.

Oriol Romeu and Cata Coll are the ambassadors of the 22nd edition of MICFootball. The FC Barcelona players attended the tournament’s presentation event at the CosmoCaixa on Tuesday, showing their satisfaction at playing the role of ambassadors for a tournament with a long tradition.

ORIOL ROMEU

“The MIC is a tournament where you take away a unique experience. You can play against boys from other parts of the world, and it allows you to get to know idyllic areas of the Catalan Costa Brava. It is a very beautiful competition. I would compare it to the Olympics at a level where all the people are united. It’s a unique experience for young boys and girls. When you’re that age and you live these tournaments, it’s to enjoy it. The week goes by so fast. You obsess about wanting to win or score goals, but the important thing is to enjoy the friends, the company and the week of football and sport… Then, whether you get a title or not, it will be seen, but these beautiful events must be enjoyed to the fullest because they rarely happen”.

CATA COLL

“I’m from Mallorca and I used to play in a village club and I heard a lot about the MIC. It was a tournament that everyone wanted to go to and you always had this illusion. I’m happy to be here now. That all the boys and girls can enjoy and learn of experience, which is something very important. I wish I had experienced it when I was young. It is an important tournament that everyone wants to win. Not everyone has a week on the Costa Brava. The MIC has been betting on us for years and it is a very important boost, just like having sponsors, hopefully it will continue like this to continue to grow into the people.”

The 22nd edition of the international youth football tournament MICFootball (MIC – Mediterranean International Cup) was presented this afternoon at the CosmoCaixa Science Museum in Barcelona and did so with the presence of Oriol Romeu and Cata Coll, footballers from the first teams. male and female of FC Barcelona.

The competition will take place from the 27th to the 31st of this month of March in 40 municipalities in the Girona district. It will do so with a record participation of 412 teams and with the presence of more fields than ever: 56. The more than 8,000 participating players, who will be divided into 9 categories, will play 1,012 games. Figueres will once again host the opening ceremony and will repeat, together with Palamós, as the venue for the finals that will be played between Saturday and Sunday of that week.

With a history that goes beyond two decades and recognized as one of the most prestigious grassroots soccer tournaments in the world, MICFootball has two top-level soccer players as sponsors of this 22nd edition. Oriol Romeu and Cata Coll have reviewed the current events of their respective teams, while the Catalan midfielder has also had time to remember his participation in this championship in 2005.

“It is a unique experience that allows you to face great teams and discover new areas of the Costa Brava. It is a very beautiful week and the MIC allows you to experience sensations similar to those that can be experienced in the Olympic Games. To the boys and girls who will participate this year, I recommend that you enjoy it and not become obsessed only with the victories,” said Romeu. The player has also analyzed the present of his team, a few days before enjoying the return of the round of 16 of the Champions League. “First we have to play on Friday against Mallorca and then we will think about Naples, but it is clear that the result will determine what will happen this season. The Champions League is very important for us and we want to stay alive. The idea of a tie is not It is the ideal, but surely with our people we will have many more options,” he said.

Cata Coll is convinced that the women’s Barça “can win all the titles that are still at stake; the objective is this and we are all very clear about it.” And although she has never participated, she has valued MICFootball very positively. “When I was little I had always heard about it as an important tournament. I wish I had been able to live this experience. I hope that the younger ones can enjoy it this year and learn a lot from everything that happens to them. Furthermore, for many years they have been betting on women’s soccer and that is essential for this sport to continue growing.

The presentation also featured interventions by Anna Julià, Territorial Representative of Sports in Girona of the Generalitat of Catalonia; Juanjo Rovira, director of MICFootball; Jordi Masquef, Sports Deputy of the Girona Provincial Council and vice-president of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona; Íñigo Roy, director of communication and sponsorship strategy at Caixa Bank, and Valentí Farràs, director of CosmoCaixa.
