FC Barcelona will play the next edition of MICFootball, which will take place in different towns at the Costa Brava from April 12 to 17, 2022.

The Catalans have not missed a single edition of the tournament, being also the most successful team in the entire history of the men’s MIC with a total of 16 titles.

Barça trust in us from the beginning, also sharing many of the values that should prevail in youth football. It is an honor to have them back in the tournament.

An inexhaustible cradle

Barça is and will be the cradle of young promises of world football. Throughout these years we have been able to enjoy countless talents at MICFootball. As in 2003, an unforgettable generation with Leo Messi, Cesc Fàbregas and Gerard Piqué. Or in 2005, with Jordi Alba at the helm.

About the youngsters who are already shining, Ansu Fati, Nico and Eric García have played three editions of MICFootball (2013, 2015 and 2017), while Gavi left his mark in 2016, 2018 and 2019.

From the current Barça, Busquets also took part in MIC, wearing the colors of the JABAC Terrassa in 2005; Pedri was in 2017 with Juventud la Laguna.

Real Madrid will be part of MICFootball for another year. The Whites have confirmed its presence in the 2022 edition, which will take place on the Costa Brava from April 12 to 17.

Madrid is a classic of the MIC. The Whites, current champions of category A1 and who hold 10 titles in the tournament’s record, will contest their 19th edition. For the organization it is a tremendous honor to keep having a club like Real Madrid.

The Factory of young promises

Throughout our history, Madrid has made its mark on the tournament with the presence of several MICPlayers who are currently in the football elite. Let’s look at some examples:

  • Dani Carvajal. The Madrid right-back played for MIC in 2006.
  • Sergio Reguilón. A whirlwind on Tottenham’s left side. He was already pointing out ways in the 2008 edition.
  • Casemiro. At MICFootball we have also had samba. Tournament champ along with Neymar, Coutinho and Alisson.
  • Saúl Ñíguez. The Chelsea midfielder showed his talents for the Whites late in 2008.

In addition, we do not forget the youngsters who have been stomping like Sergio Santos or Andri Gudjhonsen.

Alexia Putellas received the Ballon d’Or this Monday, a distinction that accredits her as the best player in the world. The midfielder becomes the first Spanish player to receive this award.

Putellas, who was the MICFootball’s 2018 ambassador, put the icing on a cake into an unforgettable 2021. The FC Barcelona captain won three titles with the Catalan team, she was chosen best player of the year in UEFA and best midfielder too.

From the MIC’s family we are very happy for Alexia, who is reaching milestones in her career. An excellent player and a better person. Congratulations!

They also play the MICFootball

Once again, MICFootball will have room for the best females teams. Since we were born we had clubs like Atletico de Madrid, FC Barcelona, RCD Espanyol or Paris Saint-Germain.

Players like Marta Torrejón, Claudia Pina, Emma Ramírez, Sandy Baltimore or Laia Codina have taken part in MICFootball. Do you imagine being the next one? Register now here.

Messi got his 7th Ballon d’Or

Another MICPlayer, Leo Messi, was also awarded. The Argentinian got his 7th Ballon d’Or. The superstar led Argentina to win the American Cup, he was the Pichichi in LaLiga (30 goals scored) and he won the Spanish Cup with FC Barcelona. Greatness.

We are delighted for announcing Liverpool FC as the second team confirmed to the MICFootball 2022 edition. They join PSG. The Reds will come again to the Costa Brava. It’s their ninth time ever.

Liverpool is an historical football club. It will turn 130 years old in 2022. And yes, you know, they have never walked alone. Their supporters are probably the most passionate and faithful around the UK.

In their current first team, we find some MICPlayers. The best one, without a shadow of a doubt, is Mohamed Salah. The Egypcian star came with his National Team late in 2010. Apart from him, goalkeeper Alisson Becker was an important part of the Brazil NT success in 2008’s edition next to Neymar, Coutinho and Casemiro. Also, the youngster Curtis Jones took part in the tournament in 2013.

The best European teams trust in our legacy. Would you like to join them? Don’t waste time and register your team now by clicking here.

Ready to crown again

Liverpool got its first title in 2019, defeating Olympique Marseille after a penalty shootout in the B2 category final. The goalkeeper scored the last penalty.

Watch again the final here!

We can already announce the first confirmed team for the MICFootball 2022 edition. Paris Saint-Germain will be on the Costa Brava next April (12-17). It will be the fifth time that the French team will play the tournament.

PSG, one of the most powerful clubs in Europe, bets one more year for the MIC. The French team has a long tradition of educational soccer, promoting “values and its own methodology” as it is explained on its website.

Some players of the current PSG first team, such as Leo Messi, Neymar or Juan Bernat, have played the MICFootball when they were young. Messi was with Barça in 2003, Neymar came with Brazil in 2008 and Bernat defended the Valencia’s colors in 2009.

PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino was MICFootball’s 2019 ambassador and he also did the kick-off in the 2016 edition.

In 2018 edition, Kylian Mbappé’s younger brother, Ethan (2006), was one of the big names in the U12 category.

Two-time champion in the women’s category

PSG has been crowned MICFootball champion twice. It was in 2017 and 2018, both in the women’s category.

In 2017, the Gallic women beat Atletico Madrid in the final with a good goal from Vanessa de Matos.

A year later, the colchoneras sought revenge, but PSG ended up taking the victory with the same result (0-1). Sandy Baltimore was named MVP of the category.

Pedro González, better known as “Pedri“, has been awarded this Monday with the Golden Boy 2021, an award that accredits him as the best player in Europe under 21 years old.

The Canarian, who played MICFootball in 2017 with CF Juventud Laguna, succeeds Erling Haaland on the throne. Pedri received a total of 318 votes, beating Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund) in the voting, who totaled 199. Gavi, another MICPlayer, finished fifth in the ranking.

“I thank Tuttosport for this trophy of which I am proud. Thanks also to all the members of the jury and to the fans who have always supported me in this simply amazing 2021 for me. And of course, many thanks to Barça, the national team, my family and my friends,” Pedri said in a video showing his appreciation.

Other MICPlayers who have won the Golden Boy

Pedri is not the first MICPlayer to be awarded with this distinction. Leo Messi, Cesc Fàbregas and Joao Félix are other players with MICFootball pasts who received the recognition at the time.

Messi won it in 2005, Cesc in 2006 and the Portuguese two years ago.

We are proud to see the growth and success of players who once demonstrated their talent in the tournament. Who will be next?

Spain will play this Thursday, in Athens, the first of its two crucial qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Luis Enrique’s team need to win if they want to depend on themselves on Sunday against Sweden.

The Asturian coach has at his disposal a total of 25 players, with Brahim Díaz (AC Milan) and Raúl de Tomás (RCD Espanyol) standing out as new players, as they are making their debut in a call-up with the Spanish National Team after the withdrawals of Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres.

Thus, Luis Enrique could field against Greece an 11 composed entirely of players who took part in the MICFootball, the tournament where the stars are born. It would be with a 3-4-3 system, clearly offensive.

First of all, Unai Simon (Athletic Club’s goalkeeper) played the MIC in 2012. The player from Murgia is a regular in goal, being a protagonist in the last Eurocup in the penalty shootout in the quarterfinals against Switzerland.

The backline will be occupied by Dani Carvajal (MIC 2006), Pau Torres (MIC 2015) and Jordi Alba (2005). The Madrid fullback returns to a call-up after overcoming an injury ordeal. Torres and Alba were also starters during the last continental tournament.

Sergio Busquets, captain of the national team that played the MICFootball in 2005 wearing the colors of Jabac Terrassa, could join in the midfield. Alongside the player from Badia there would be another azulgrana, Gavi, one of the surprises in the F4 Nations League with Spain who has already demonstrated his talent in the tournament on the Costa Brava in three editions (2016, 2018 and 2019).

Rodri and Brahim would complete the quartet in midfield. The Manchester City midfielder stood out in the 2010 MICFootball with Atlético de Madrid, while the current AC Milan winger won the 2011 MIC (alevín category) with Málaga CF, being named best player of the tournament.

Finally, the forward line was made up of Pablo Fornals, Dani Olmo and rookie Raúl de Tomás. Fornals was one of the biggest names in MICFootball 2014. The player from Castellón led Málaga CF in the youth category and was also MVP. Olmo, a canterano azulgrana currently at German club Leipzig, left his stamp on the MIC three times (2010, 2012 and 2014). LaLiga’s third top striker, RDT, played for Real Madrid on the Costa Brava more than a decade ago (2006 and 2008).

A MIC line-up. From promises to professional football.

Manchester United and Manchester City will face each other this Saturday in the eleventh round of the Premier League. The Red Devils are seeking for the UCL positions, while the citizens are pursuing Chelsea and Liverpool at the standings.

MICFootball will be focused on one of the most traditional matches in the UK, as we will have 8 players who were in our tournament a few years ago. We are meaning Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Juan Mata, Eric Bailly and Diogo Dalot from United; as well as Ferran Torres, Cole Palmer and Rodri from City.

The future begins here

Rashford and Greenwood are two of the most promising English players. Rashford came to the Costa Brava in 2010, showing his physicality and speed on the pitch. On the other hand, Greenwood played the MICFootball four times (2012, 2013, 2014 & 2017).

Apart from Greenwood, two more players coincided took part in the tournament in 2013 edition. Diogo Dalot was part of FC Porto, while Eric Bailly was playing in RCD Espanyol at that time.

Rodri, an important piece for Guardiola’s roster, is also a MICPlayer after appearing in the tournament a decade ago (2010). He defended Atletico de Madrid colors.

Juan Mata, the oldest one (and obviously not least), is also in the history books. He participated with Real Oviedo. After his participation in MICFootball, Real Madrid signed him.

Pep Guardiola, MICFootball ambassador

Pep Guardiola, former FC Barcelona player and coach, currently at Manchester City, was chosen as ambassador in the first MICFootball. Since then, he has achieved a lot during his career. A great model for all the kids and managers.

We would like to send luck to all of them!

list of 19 players who have played in the MICFootball could may be this Sunday in the first Barça-Madrid of the season

MICFootball is one of the most historical youth football tournaments. In the last two decades, thousands of players have being part of the competition. Some of them have become –or still- professionals. This Sunday, in El Clasico at Camp Nou, a total list of 19 players who played the MICFootball could may jump into the pitch.

In Barça’s current roster there are 13 players who have taken part in MICFootball. Most of them, like Ansu Fati, knew what means to be important. The ‘10’ led Barça to win the U14 final in 2015 against Madrid by 2-4.

Next to Ansu Fati, Ronald Koeman could line-up Philippe Coutinho, Sergi Roberto, Sergio Busquets, Gerard Piqué, Jordi Alba, Eric García, Oscar Mingueza, Gavi, Pedri, Riqui Puig, Nico González and Alejandro Balde.

On the other half, Carlo Ancelotti has six players “made in MICFootball”: Casemiro, Dani Carvajal, Marcelo, Miguel Gutiérrez, Sergio Arribas and Antonio Blanco.

8 finals against each other
Madrid and Barça have played 8 times against each other in MICFootball. All of them in the finals. The head-to-head can’t be more equal: 4-4.

MICFootball, where future stars are bron
Since century’s beginning, MICFootball hosts one of the best youth football tournament at the Costa Brava. Apart from the mentioned players who will be this Sunday at El Clasico, some distinguished players like Messi, Neymar, Cesc Fàbregas, Juan Mata or Saúl Ñíguez have also played the MICFootball.

Ansu Fati scored one goal and shared two assists in the MICFootball’s 2015 final (U14), leading FC Barcelona to the title

Barça and Madrid will face this next Sunday (4.15pm) in a new edition of El Clasico. It will be an special day for Ansu Fati, who will play for the first time against Madrid wearing the number ‘10’.

Ansu would like to repeat, for sure, what he already did in 2015, in the MICFootball tournament, leading an outstanding overcome. He was the leader next to Konrad de la Fuente or Eric García. Take Kubo was too, on the bench.

The Blancos took the lead sooner, but FC Barcelona were able to react quick. In just two minutes, Eric Garcia and Ansu Fati scored two goals. In the second half, Fati made the difference again. He let completely alone Konrad de la Fuente, who dealed the game.

Ansu Fati showed that day how capable is of doing great things. Will he do it again this Sunday at Camp Nou?
